Group Tuition for JEE

It gives us great pleasure to announce the success of four of our outstanding students in the JEE (Advanced) 2023.
Varad Pendse, Swayam Kelkar, Aadi Tendulkar and Advait Kelkar made it to the JEE (Advanced) merit list by a combination of sheer hard work, intelligence and perseverance.

Golden Gate to IIT is a 2 year group tuition programme in Mumbai which trains students for Engineering Entrance examinations.

The programme was started 18 years ago (in 2005). The first batch appeared for class XII in 2006; since then, every batch has seen students enter prestigious national-level institutes like IITs, NITs, BITS, IISER & DAIICT and also well-known engineering colleges in Mumbai like VJTI, SPCE, SPIT, D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering & K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering (Vidyavihar).

The programme is run in Vile Parle, and attracts students from as far away as Mira Road and Thane.

Once a student joins the programme, he/she receives training in a single course, for all relevant examinations such as the JEE (Advanced), the JEE (Main) and the BITSAT, as well as class XII Board exams and the engineering CET.

Our two aims in this programme are:
(i) to equip our students with a sound foundation in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry which allows them to shine in any engineering or physical sciences course which they join after class XII.

(ii) to enable our students to do well in various entrance examinations and then join either any national-level institute like IIT, NIT (National Institute of Technology), BITS (Birla Institute of Technology & Science), IISER (Indian Institute Of Science Education and Research, DAIICT (Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information & Communications Technology, Gandhinagar) and ICT (Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai - formerly known as UDCT) or to join one of the best colleges in Mumbai.

Prof. Manoj Karmarkar has completed his B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay. After a year's industrial experience, he came back to IIT Bombay and obtained an M.Tech. degree in Energy Systems Engineering. He then worked in IIT Bombay for two and a half years and thereafter joined the teaching profession.
Prof. Karmarkar has been teaching IIT JEE Physics for the last 23 years.

Prof. Indraneel Naik completed his M. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Trichy. He worked as a Project Research Engineer in IIT Bombay and also as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT College of Engineering, Kothrud-Pune. He has also worked in the industry with reputed companies like Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd. (TCE) and LG Electronics India Ltd.

Prof. Vinayak Antarkar has completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from IIT Bombay. He has taught Engineering Mechanics to first year Engineering students and Mathematics for IIT JEE, AIEEE and MHT-CET.
Prof. Antarkar has been teaching IIT JEE Mathematics for the last 23 years.

Prof. Dr. U R Kapadi has completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from IIT Bombay. He has been teaching Chemistry at the under graduate, graduate and post graduate level for the last 26 years. He has been instrumental in setting up the Chemistry Department at the North Maharashtra University and has guided twelve students towards the successful completion of their Ph.D. programmes.
Prof. Kapadi has been teaching IIT JEE Chemistry for the last 14 years.

Prof. Sudhanshu Kumar has completed his B.Tech. in Mining Engineering from NIT Rourkela.
He is an accomplished and popular Chemistry teacher on the JEE circuit, and has been teaching IIT JEE and NEET Chemistry at various institutes all over India for the last 8 years.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are international centres of excellence in imparting training in Science and Technology. Students are admitted to these institutes through an all-India competition called the JEE (Advanced).

The Golden Gate to IIT is a group tuition programme which trains class XI & class XII students primarily for this examination, but also for other entrance examinations too, like the JEE (Main), BITSAT and CET.

The JEE (Advanced) is renowned as the world's toughest entrance examination at the Under Graduate level. The questions appearing in this examination are conceptual and tricky. They are meant to test not only the student's understanding of the fundamental principles of science but also his/her skill to apply these principles in unforeseen situations, as these questions are always refreshingly new.

Preparing for the JEE (Advanced) has three equally important aspects:
(i) building a sound conceptual understanding of the subject
(ii) sufficient amount of practice and preparation
(iii) development of skills such as time management, stress management, goal-setting and analysing one's faults and weaknesses.

The faculty of the Golden Gate programme continuously guides the students on all three fronts, due to which the student benefits in the long run, irrespective of which course or institution he/she joins after class XII.

Our ex-students have proved time and again that building upon all these areas helps them do well in academics at a later stage.

The programme is conducted in the format of a group tuition. The batch size is restricted to 40 students, to facilitate easy individual interaction between professors and students.

The faculty is intentionally restricted to only 5 professors, each of whom is a master in his/her respective field. The students interact with the same 5 professors for the entire course duration of 2 years. This allows the students to learn one subject from at the most two professors, which results in continuity in the learning process for the students.

In each lecture, the students are engaged in conceptual discussions followed by application of these concepts to a huge variety of problems, starting from the basic and gradually moving over to the advanced level upto the standard of the JEE. Rather than instilling rote mugging, the students are encouraged to improve their conceptual understanding, analytical skill, examination temperament as well as nerve, which are so vital in this unique examination. The students' level of preparation is regularly examined by exposing them to continuous evaluation in the form of periodic tests and assignments.

Students' parents have easy access to faculty members, and can contact them directly to ask about their wards. Eight months after the start of the training programme a faculty-parent meeting is held, in which detailed report cards are given to the parents and they meet and discuss the student's progress with each professor individually.

It has been our experience that the training we impart in the Golden Gate Programme is highly beneficial to students in other entrance examinations also (apart from the JEE).

BITSAT (Birla Institute of Science & Technology Admission Test) is one such examination. Birla Institute of Technology & Science is currently located in three places in India - Pilani, Goa & Hyderabad. These institutes are internationally recognised as centres of excellence imparting training in science and technology. The entry to these prestigious institutes is through a national level examination called BITSAT, held after the class XII examination. The BITSAT syllabus is quite similar to the JEE syllabus.

Students of the Golden Gate Programme have always done well at the BITSAT. 46 of our students have joined BITS since the inception of the Golden Gate Programme.

The COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (MHTCET) is the accepted entrance test for most state engineering colleges in Maharashtra.

Our experience with the CET has always been excellent.

In 2020, on the basis of MHTCET, 8 students (out of a batch of 33) took admission in either VJTI or SPIT or SPCE. These are considered to be the most prestigious local engineering institutes in Mumbai.


The reason for our success at the CET in spite of being a programme geared towards the JEE (Advanced) is not hard to find.

Students who join us are usually the best students in their respective schools. If they prepare sincerely for 2 years for the JEE (Advanced), which is a much more difficult examination than the CET, they find it relatively easy to tackle a simpler examination like the CET - especially as almost the entire CET syllabus is a part of the JEE (Advanced) syllabus.
